Happy Birthday, Mom!

My sister and I have been in cahoots all week, sharing a secret. Trying to plan a surprise party for my Mom, is hard to do. First thing was to make sure her day wasn't planned for something else. The only day my sister could get off from work was today, so we had to have the party earlier than my Mom's true birthday. Not everything works out the way you plan it.

My Sister showed up at my Mom's house, trying not to act funny and give it away. But, my Mom knew something was going on, she just couldn't figure out what. My husband and I come over later with the cake. Mom was very surprised to see us, then she saw the cake. Surprise, Happy Birthday!

My mom was truly surprised, but she was upset that she didn't get a shower and that kind of thing. It was only immediate family and we told her not to worry or feel bad. Also my sister told her a little fib to try and throw my mom off. My sister said she would paint, and my Mom took all the stuff out of the room and started taping off. So, she was upset when there was not going to be any painting, and she tore the room up for nothing.

Every one had a nice time eating, talking and playing horseshoes. Finally it was time for the cake. There was no room in the freezer to store the ice cream cake and it was in the fridge for a few hours, so it was starting to melt pretty badly. Then Verdie tried to light the candles with a torch you use to solder pipes.

Even with the disasters, my Mom was still happy that we had the party for her!
