New Camera Arrived!!

My new camera is finally here! It came yesterday late in the evening. I just get so excited waiting for packages to come in the mail. When they finally do get here, it's like watching a kid at Christmas time. Something just takes over me as I tear into the packaging. It never gets old. Even other peoples' packages do it to me.

I ordered the Olympus Stylus 1000 Digital Camera. Of all the medium price range cameras, I thought this was the best for me. I can't imagine how a 10 mega pixel will look compared to my old 2.1 mega pixel camera. With the 2 gig memory chip there's about 810 pictures. Also there is a video feature. The viewing screen is 2 1/2 inches big and there is no lens to look through like traditional cameras. I am concerned if the screen can be seen in the bright light of the sun. I didn't use it outside yet.

The camera has many settings that I am not fully understanding yet. My old camera was a point and click, so there was not allot to learn. The Olympus has many manual settings, but also has an automatic picture function. Right now the automatic setting is all I've used.

Can't wait to see how the pictures come out once loaded into the computer. The camera came with software for use with MS Windows and Mac machines. I don't use either one, I use Ubuntu Linux. It says the camera is automatically recognized when you plug it in, like a flash drive, so I should be able to just pull the pictures off like usual. Besides, I already use picture organizing and editing software that comes with Linux. Hopefully that will go well.

This camera is much more than I expected to get in a camera. I really like it so far. Once all the features are learned, I'll surly be satisfied with my purchase.
