Time to face reality

I don't want to go home! Let's head back to Asheville and get an apartment and send someone home to get our stuff. This trip has been wonderful minus South of the Border. We packed up the truck and began our journey home.

First off there was a problem with the truck's battery, but we fixed it without having to call a garage. It was strange, the truck just lost power completely. The problem was a loose battery terminal. Tightened it up and back on our way.

Before leaving South Carolina, we had a much needed breakfast at Waffle House. This is our first time ever eating here, and I was a little afraid because of the appearance of the place. It was a very small building adorned with colors from a less pleasing era. There really was no where else to grab food for a long while, so we sucked it up and gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was good. My husband and I were astonished by how efficiently the place was operating despite the size of space available for the employees to function. The building is very tiny with tables packed in around the sides and then a counter in the middle where you could sit. We chose to sit at the counter. The view from the counter was the kitchen area with employees cooking the food right in front of you. I mean they were spitting distance from where we sat. It was so packed behind the counter that the workers had to squeeze around each other. We found it amusing to watch while waiting for our food to arrive.

The ride was taking it's toll on me and it was time to have dinner, so we decided to stop and eat. This was great news for me for I needed a rest badly. Our eatery of choice was Chili's. I was ridiculously tired so it was a very blah experience. I just wanted to magically appear at home and end this journey.

The rest of the trip home was almost uneventful. My husband and I were caught in a traffic backup which delayed our return home. We needed to call the person taking care of the animals to stop in one more time and take the dog outside.

It's great being back with the comforts of home and with the pets, buy my heart is still in Asheville, NC.
